Hills of Minneola is an independent local community page. We don't work for any local business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any political candidate, campaign, political party, or elected official.

Our purpose is simple: keep our community informed and connected. We share local news, development updates, new businesses, community events, things to do, and the fun stuff happening around Minneola too.

As we get closer to the election, we will also share information that we believe is relevant to local residents. Sharing information about a candidate, debate, meeting, or issue does not constitute an endorsement.

We know emotions can run high during election season. Constructive discussion and respectful disagreement are welcome here. Cyberbullying, personal attacks, slander, name-calling, or targeting candidates or other community members are not.

🚨 HEADS UP, MINNEOLA, a NEW development plan is being proposed for Minneola Marketplace.

According to a recent GrowthSpotter report, Equinox Development Inc. has an agreement to purchase the 74-acre Minneola Marketplace site from Sun Terra. The report also states that Walmart has rescinded its plans and is no longer under contract for the property.

So what’s being proposed instead?

Equinox is envisioning a mixed-use development that could include:
• More shops and restaurants
• Multifamily housing
• A hotel
• Additional commercial spaces
• A layout built around multiple uses rather than one large big-box retailer

⚠️ Important: This proposed plan has NOT been approved.

The property is still tied to the site plan approved in 2023. Changes to the entitlements, development agreement, or site plan would require the appropriate public review process through Planning & Zoning and City Council.

That means this is the time to pay attention, learn what’s being proposed, and get involved based on what YOU believe Minneola needs.

Growth is coming. The conversation about what that growth should look like is happening now.
