Today we are remembering the 6th years anniversary of George Floyd murder. We are reflecting on the grief, the inequality, and the painful truth about the race in our community. We, as a small local community group, are reflecting on our continuing commitment toward overcoming the struggles and working with the collective community toward making progress, both in our umbrella organization and the local community we served.

May 1st is the first day of permit season to visit the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) in Minnesota. This year feel very different to many of us. In the news, the federal government have stripped the protections that forbid the sulfide-ore copper mining near the watershed of BWCA wilderness, which put this beloved and most visited wilderness in danger.
As a group based in Minnesota, we have been doing our part to participate and to support the larger community and movement to make the permanent BWCA protections, a goal. We reaffirm our commitment to be part of the saving boundary waters movement, especially with our community partner . We will continue to support the coalition to the best of our abilities.

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, the U.S. Senate passed H.J. Res. 140, a devastating bill that will undo protections for the Boundary Waters. The vote passed by 51-49. This legislation will pave the way for Twin Metals, a Chilean-owned company, to proceed with its mining leases to build a copper mine on...

Today is the day, call your senators now!

This is the critical moment we’ve been anticipating.

Latest intel from Capitol Hill: time is being held on the Senate floor tomorrow to vote on a resolution that would dismantle the 20-year mining protections for the Boundary Waters.

Already called your Senators? Call again: (202) 224-3121 – tell them to vote no on HJ Resolution 140.

When offices hear from a flood of people at once, it sends a clear message: This matters. People are paying attention. And their constituents will remember their vote.

The 6th Woodrunners family celebrates and congratulates our Rover Michelle on earning her Baden-Powell award recently. Baden-Powell Award, or BP Award, is the highest award and badge work a rover can earns under the current rover program. Rover Michelle joined our group in late 2019. After our group emerged from the pandemic, Rover Michelle has been serving as our Group Secretary, Regional Training Commissioner, Midwest Regional Commissioner, and serving both the Group Board and National Board. Rover Michelle plays a major role in building up the local group/chapter, empowering other rovers, and growing a community which supports each other through good times and navigate through challenges. Rover Michelle is also the first recipient of Pewter Acorn in the organization. She is the 3rd BP Award recipient in 6th Woodrunners history.

Happy first day of spring 2026! How many Otters does it take to tie a leader to a tree? That’s the age-old, quintessential question we ask how much our youth members enjoy the meeting. In 6th Woodrunners, we have been inviting leaders to view the world from the youth members perspective.
As leaders, we would frequently ask our youth members: “Have you learned something new today?”, “Are you having fun?”. The details always tell us the youth members have a great time.
