Good Food Purchasing Program - Twin Cities

Good Food Purchasing Program - Twin Cities The Twin Cities' localized campaign to transform the way public institutions purchase food. We all deserve systems that serves us.

Since January of 2016 over 30 stakeholder organizations have come together to discuss the GFPP value categories and applying the standards to institutional procurement in our region. Early on some initial research and coordination was done by Food Policy researcher Pete Huff of Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) and graduate studies researcher Claire Stoscheck looking at the nationa

l GFPP standards and some implications and suggestions for applying them to institutional food purchasing in the Twin Cities. Over the summer of 2016, stakeholder members, Zoe Hollomon and Dylan Bradford-Kesti, met with 3 local institutions to learn more about their food procurement processes, needs and challenges. Out of those meetings, Minneapolis Public Schools Culinary Wellness Services took an interest in engaging further in an initial assessment with the Center for Good Food Purchasing. With building momentum, many of the stakeholder partners came together in November 2016 to officially establish the Twin Cities GFPP Coalition and agreed to work collaboratively to support the adoption of the Good Food Purchasing Policy Standards in the Twin Cities region. The following organizations made their formal public commitment to the Twin Cities GFPP Coalition at our meeting in November of 2016. In addition, many other organizations are working with us locally and nationally to move the work forward. Lead Organization:
