Munch was commissioned to do a series of paintings on daily life to be displayed in a chocolate factory cafeteria. This was some 30 years after he had painted "The Scream" for which he had claimed fame. The series of paintings were recently approved to go on public display. “Edvard Munch and the Chocolate Factory” will be on display at the Munch Museum in Oslo, May 21 through October 11, 2026.

There is a nice article found in Smithsonian Magazine, if you would like to learn more.

A violin/guitar duo called Project : Constellation will be performing at the Anoka County Library, 707 County Road 10 NE, Blaine, MN, on Monday, September 22nd at 5 pm.

Santiago and Christina Anne Silva are a husband/wife duo that hails from Grand Forks, North Dakota. Santiago is originally from Sweden and is fluent in Swedish and Norwegian.

The couple performs Swedish and Norwegian songs, sung in their languages, at different libraries, museums, Scandinavian festivals, etc.

They would like to invite Sons of Norway lodge members out for live Scandinavian music. The event is free.

A recent review of their performance: "A perfect mix of rhythm, harmony, and melody, Project : Constellation creates a whimsical and adorable musical experience alike no other! Their stage presence and capability to perform is impeccable, so don’t miss them when they’re out and about. In the meantime look Project : Constellation up on SoundCloud to get a taste of their wonderful music. Pairing a 7 string acoustic guitar and 5 string violin is the most fitting but also unique combination, and it makes so much sense. It’s an Americana/Folk/Singer Songwriter feel. These guys are super solid and I give them and their music a 5/5. Thanks for following a passion and sharing music."

Happy Syttende Mai! Vonheim and Oslo Lodges celebrated with a smørbrød social. Mange Tusen Takk to Marlys Thomsen for organizing and hosting this event at her Applewood Pointe Apple Valley facility. Thanks to her helpers who made enough trimmings and toppings to make a Norwegian blush! The sandwiches were a great hit with such fresh ingredients. It was a good time filled with wonderful conversation. What a nice way to celebrate this Norwegian holiday.

Liese Greensfelder is the author of a Univ of Minn Press book called "Accidental Shepherd: How a California Girl Rescued an Ancient Mountain Farm in Norway." It's one of two books that SofN's national book club has chosen for their October read.

Liese will be presenting her book in conversation with author Eric Dregni at Magers & Quinn Booksellers in Minneapolis this Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. The event is free, but M&Q does hope that any attendees will sign up in advance, so they can know how many chairs are needed, etc. You can find the event on the events page of M&Q's website and a link to sign up there. It would be lovely to see some friendly SofN faces in the audience. Med vennlig hilsen --Liese
