The company’s founder, Aly Samabaly, grew up on the streets of Africa in extremely difficult living conditions, where the only break from the harshness of every day life came when kids played sports. Out of millions of kids, Aly was chosen to come to the U.S. to play basketball where he stayed to play in Akron Ohio on two state high school championship teams. From there, Aly was given a full NCAA athletic scholarship to play Division I basketball and get a college education. Be Own Sports serves student athletes three ways: 1) by building safe facilities to play sports, 2) by helping them become part of a community where they can connect with peers, hone their skills, track their progress and market their athletic and academic talent to coaches and schools and 3) by providing access to an education and important academic resources. Be Own Sports facilities, community and education are all funded through sales of Be Own branded sportswear, sold online and at select retailers around the world (coming soon!).
