Launching from her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, JEN MESSING has been speaking, teaching and leading theology of the body-based retreats – indoors and outdoors – since 2002. She has experience with injecting the language of the Theology of the Body into everything from 5th grade classrooms to Marriage preparation retreats, as well as training sessions for religious education teachers, crisis

pregnancy counselors and NFP practitioners. Jen has an undergraduate degree in Social Work, a Master of Theological Studies from Ave Maria University’s Institute for Pastoral Theology, and is pursuing a certificate through the Theology of the Body Institute. Jen founded the Frassati Society of MN in 2002 and this nonprofit, Into the Deep, in 2012. Her passion is teaching people of all ages about the greater story behind life, love and the dignity of each human person. INTO the DEEP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of facilitating true understanding of our identity, reason for being, and dignity as body-soul persons made in the image of God. RETREATS is the unique vision of bringing the mission of INTO the DEEP into a setting we were made for! Each person deserves to know what it means to be made in the image of God; all are called to understand the meaning of life and love so as to fully participate in the great story of our origin, history, potential, and destiny. Whether you are a teacher, young adult, or teen, INTO the DEEP invites you to encounter God, neighbor, and your unrepeatable personhood through Eucharist-centered prayer, lessons on the theology of the body, and the adventure of living outdoors.

Yesterday we said our last farewell to our beloved sister in Christ, Jen. The church was packed and hearts were overflowing with love. But Jen still had one final event on the calendar for 2023…

Please join us for our final First Saturday Hike of the year this coming Saturday, December 2nd.

As always, you can join us at 8am mass at St. Charles, rendezvous at the office at 9am to carpool, or meet us at Fort Snelling at 9:30am. Make sure to wear plenty of warm layers and good hiking shoes. Pack a water bottle, some trail snacks, and your favorite Jen story too!

Friends from afar, feel free to join us in the “original cathedral” from the local trails of your own backyard. We’ll start our hike with the rosary and end it with hot cocoa (or for the truly adventurous, HOT TANG… if you know you know ;) )

United in prayer, and in the Eucharist, our sister Jen is closer than ever…

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Charles Borromeo Atrium 2739 Stinson Boulevard Minneapolis from 4-7pm.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00am. There will be a visitation one hour prior and internment will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery 2730 Central Ave NE Minneapolis.
