The Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association is seriously troubled by the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo, issued on September 8, 2025, which lifted a district court order forbidding immigration agents from making stops based solely on factors such as race or ethnicity, speaking Spanish, or one’s place or type of work. This ruling effectively grants the federal government permission to resume racially discriminatory and constitutionally flawed immigration enforcement operations.

The Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the children whose lives were tragically taken in the recent shooting in Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, and to all those injured. Our hearts are with the entire community as it grieves this unimaginable loss.

We mourn with the families and stand united in the call for peace, safety, and justice for our children and neighborhoods.

As members of the legal community, we are committed to supporting efforts that foster safety, justice, and healing in our neighborhoods. No family should have to endure such unimaginable loss, and no child should be robbed of their future.

Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 REAP Academy!

The REAP Academy is a nationally recognized talent accelerator for emerging leaders in commercial real estate. For over 25 years, Project REAP has helped launch the real estate careers of more than 2,000 alumni of color across the U.S.

The application closes on Saturday, August 31 at 11:59 PM, with admission notifications the week of September 22. The academy begins on Monday, October 6.

The YMCA of the North is looking for volunteers for the YMCA National Judicial Competition on July 29 and 30!

The YMCA Center for Youth Voice is hosting more than 350 of the best and brightest high school students from across the country for the YMCA's 2025 National Judicial Competition, and we need your help! They are seeking more than 100 professionals from the Minnesota legal community including attorneys, judges, law students, and paralegals to volunteer as evaluators and provide feedback for Mock Trial and Appellate Court proceedings. Please consider helping them deliver this high-impact program.

The Commission on Judicial Selection is accepting applications for a vacancy in Minnesota's Ninth Judicial District!

Individuals wishing to apply may request an application by contacting the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor via e-mail at [email protected]. Application materials are due by 4:00 pm on July 14 and should be addressed to the chair of the commission, Erin Sindberg Porter. The commission expects to hold interviews in early August.
