The Sons of Norway Foundation joins our members, the Norwegian-North American community and the people of Norway in mourning the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.

For several decades, the Sons of Norway Foundation has been honored to receive the patronage of His Majesty King Harald V. His support has been a meaningful connection between our organization, our Norwegian heritage and the country we hold so dear.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Queen Sonja, His Majesty King Haakon VIII, the Royal Family and the people of Norway.

We were delighted to hear from Sons of Norway Foundation scholarship recipient Avery Kimmerly at the District 5 Convention in beautiful Stoughton, Wisconsin!

Avery is the recipient of the scholarship honoring Nordkap Lodge 3-215 and its enduring legacy. A triple major in biology, chemistry, and Spanish, she is preparing for a future career in medicine.

Join us in wishing Avery continued success in her studies and the year ahead!

This week, staff from Sons of Norway attended the BetterLife Better Together Leadership Summit at the Lombard, IL office. We got to know our BetterLife colleagues and noticed that we have much in common, especially the deep fraternal roots and focus on community and culture.

The Sons of Norway District Two Convention was held in Bremerton, WA over the weekend and was a big success! The group selected Mike Dyal (pictured at right) to serve as the District Two District Foundation Director to the Sons of Norway Foundation. We are celebrating Syttende Mai this year with great pride because this is the Sons of Norway Foundation’s 60th anniversary. The Foundation is proud to support our lodges and communities with grants that bring Norwegian music to life. Here Elliott Wika, 7th grader at Grygla School, gets to try out the lur and Aubrey Connett explains the differences between a violin and a Hardanger fiddle.
