Isuroon.org

Isuroon.org Advocating and achieving tangible social change for Somali women and their families.

Isuroon is a non-profit organization that provides empowerment, culturally sensitive health education, and advocacy for Somali women living outside of Somalia. Founded in 2010, we operate on the principle that Somali culture emphasizes different values about wellness, medicine, health, and illness than Western medical traditions. We are a community-driven, community-led organization dedicated to

educating and facilitating communication between Somali women and Western health care practitioners. We advocate for the safety and efficacy of medical practices within Somali communities locally and globally, and we seek to develop a self-sustaining community to support all Somali women.

Isuroon has distributed $44,000 in direct grants to support Somali, immigrant and women-owned small businesses. Through culturally specific, hands-on support in communities like Lake Street and Karmel Mall, businesses are accessing funding and stabilizing operations. This work was made possible through funding from DEED.
