On January 18, civil rights leaders, our sisters Dr. Nekima Levy-Armstrong and Chauntyll Allen, were among the courageous demonstrators who unmasked a local pastor who is a confirmed leader of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Saint Paul. With love for the countless families that are being harmed by ICE throughout the Twin Cities and the nation, they made their voices heard in peaceful and nonviolent ways, capturing public attention for a city under siege.
But like weāve seen throughout history, Black leaders ā and Black women ā are routinely targeted by government forces to silence their voices and undermine collective action. On January 22, federal officials arrested Nekima and Chauntyll, along with fellow demonstrator Wiliam Kelly, and, at this moment, they are still being detained.
We are demanding, the government FREE THE THREE ā and we need your support.
Just like Nekima and Chauntyll have shown up again and again, over decades, for our communities, we need to act in solidarity to ensure they have adequate funds for vigorous and ongoing legal representation. Please contribute to their legal defense and the defense of other community leaders who are increasingly being targeted by the federal government for raising their voices against injustice.
We know that WE keep us safe, and when we lead with LOVE, our actions are creating the future we want to see. Please donate and share widely with your networks.
