Center for Community-Engaged Learning, U of M The CCEL is an office at the University of Minnesota that serves students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

We help the UofM community connect to nonprofits in the Twin Cities community. Have you ever tutored someone, served a meal at a homeless shelter, or cleaned up a city park? Or are you thinking about volunteering for the first time? Whether you're just beginning to volunteer or have lots of experience with it, the Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) can help you find great opportunities in the Twin Cities. We can also help you learn how to combine volunteer work with academic study through service-learning classes, and how to get recognition for your commitment to community work through the Community Engagement Scholars Program. Our advisers will answer all your questions and provide in-depth guidance.

Come explore Appleby Hall at our annual Open House! Stop by participating offices and spaces throughout the building to meet staff, learn about programs and services available to University of Minnesota students, and discover resources you may not have known were right here on campus.

Whether you’re looking to get involved, find support, explore opportunities, or simply learn more about what Appleby Hall has to offer, this is a fun and informal way to connect with the people and resources here for you.

Drop in anytime between 2–4 p.m. and explore at your own pace. Participating units will have information, activities, and more throughout the building. Collect tickets as you visit and engage with participating offices, then trade them in for food, drinks, and prizes!

Current scholars and CESP alumni are invited to join us for an evening of connection, reflection, and community as we celebrate 20 years of the Community Engagement Scholars Program.

Join us Tuesday, April 28 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in Pillsbury Hall’s Liberal Arts Engagement Hub for our Alumni Networking Dinner & Gala. Through structured, rotational networking, you’ll have the chance to connect with alumni, current students, and program directors, share experiences, and strengthen the CESP community.

Dinner and refreshments will be provided. Dress up for fun or come casual!
