Powderhorn 24

Powderhorn 24 PH24 is a round-the-clock community ride in the Powderhorn neighborhood of South Minneapolis, MN.

Join your fellow residents and friends of the Powderhorn neighborhood in a celebration of our community by teaming up with friends and committing to ride your bike for 24 hours through the streets of Powderhorn and South Minneapolis. Our goal is to have the entire community be involved through racing, volunteering, or cheering on their neighbors! We give our eternal thanks and admiration to the or

ganizers of Riverwest 24, who have inspired us and supported us in organizing an event similar to their event in Milwaukee. Learn about the Riverwest 24 Hour Bicycle Race here: http://www.riverwest24.com/

ANNOUCEMENT! Powderhorn 24 is looking for new co-organizers or organizer (read: a motivated couple of people or singular super-mega-motivated lead organizer) to take over organizing PH24 in 2022 and beyond. Ideally, these folks would love PH24 and the Powderhorn community, be highly organized, would have participated in some form in the past, and be super excited to think about PH24 on the regular throughout the year. We love PH24 as much as you do and are looking for someone(s) awesome to take charge of this amazing event! If you or anyone you know might be interested, please reach out to us by e-mail at [email protected].

Powderhorn 24 brings together cyclists, families, neighbors, and spectators to ride, volunteer, and celebrate the Powderhorn neighborhood and Minneapolis. While a year ago we had every intention of hosting a ride in 2021, the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing needs of the community have caused us to reassess our event this year. As our organization is focused on the safety and comfort of all riders, volunteers, organizers, and community, we have decided not to proceed with the 2021 ride.

Please know that this is not a decision that we take lightly. We are as eager as you are to return to PH24 in all of its crowded, sweaty glory when it is safe for all of us to do so.

But wait! Still looking for some PH24 action this year? Some of our amazing organizers will be hosting some small, informal rides of the route this summer to keep the spirit of the event alive. Perhaps you’ll wear your favorite t-shirt from rides past?! Maybe you’ll also show your love for the route by joining us in calling in potholes in anticipation of next year. Hang tight - more details to come soon.

Every year Powderhorn 24 brings together cyclists, families, and spectators to ride, volunteer, and celebrate the Powderhorn neighborhood and Minneapolis. This year is different. Our community is simultaneously grieving and working to reshape our city. The need is so much greater than a bike ride (even an awesome one like PH24), and in this moment it seems clear that the energy required to put on and participate in this event can be put to better use. We are taking this year off to focus on our city's immediate needs. We will be doing our part to help our neighbors rebuild.

You'll see us periodically sharing what we are up to, and we would love to hear about how you all are staying involved!

The PH24 organizing committee has been meeting virtually in preparation for PH24 this year. Although we would love nothing more than to be riding together this summer as usual, this year our event will look a lot different.
Details about our August virtual event coming soon.

Stay excited. Stay tuned. Stay safe.

We're working through the responses to our survey this week 🤓 We heard you: the potholes on 40th suck (we agree!), the portapotties were a bit of a hike, and the Freewheel hose water pressure was, uh... a little strong.

We also wanted to let folks know that we heard your feedback about the "Boogie Down" bonus stop at Grease Pit, and we won't be repeating that stop in the future. We also reached out to folks at Grease Pit, who sent over this note: "We are grateful for the feedback we have received. We are using the feedback we have received as a learning tool. We would like to apologize for our negative role in people's experience of the Powderhorn 24 this year."

The survey link is right below if you'd like to contribute your own thoughts! ⬇️

Thanks so much for riding, volunteering, or cheering with us at Powderhorn 24 this year! This is a survey for anyone who experienced Powderhorn 24 to provide feedback so we can improve the event next year.
