REPOST: 🗣️

This super cute moment between a son and his mom highlights how confusing racial constructs really are. The funny (sometimes very painful) part is that not everyone in our families or close circles agrees on who is or isn’t a particular race or belongs to a particular culture. How we are seen or unseen has real implications and should be explored in safer spaces with others who may understand or are willing to witness and support our journey.

🎉We’re excited to relaunch our “Read as White” Dialogue Track for the first time since 2021!

*The Read as White Dialogue Track is an 18+ dedicated space for mixed, mixed-race, multiracial, biracial, multiethnic and transracial/transnational adoptees who connect with the experience of being perceived as white by others.

➡️ This perception could be due to looks (such as light skin), voice (we’ve had folks share about being “heard” as white, for example) and/or other traits. We use the term “read as white” to name how we are perceived, without centering whiteness as aspiration or assuming intent to “pass.”

🗓️👀Check all the dates via the link in our bio. In our May 9th Read As White dialogue, we’re gathering to reconnect, reflect, and process what we’ve lived through—together. We’ll hold space to process our experiences with Metro Surge and the ongoing realities of violence and repression, while grounding in community care and the shared experience of being read as white.

Eleonore Wesserle (she/her), one of the previous Read As White co-facilitators, is returning to facilitate the May 9, June 6, and July 11 Read as White dialogues.

If you connect with the experience of moving through the world being perceived by others as white, please join us! Spots are filling up!

“I’ve worked with a lot of white-assumed mixed people over the years in the Mixed Adults Immersive and so I’ve learned a lot about this particular mixed experience. Obviously it’s not the same for everyone but I think it’s something that barely gets addressed in community and that’s why I talk about here in this space.

I hope this is helpful for white-assumed mixed people to feel seen, heard and held. And also for parents, family and loved ones to know a little bit more about this. There are A LOT of mixed parents of white-assumed kids in this space and this is for you too. ♥️

Let me know if this hits home for you, I’d love to hear from you.”

We love hearing about all of the ways we are challenging ourselves and each other to consider new perspectives and get away from monolithic thinking and single stories around what it means to be part of the mixed/TRA/TNA community.

“Healing is as much about restoring, reimagining and reclaiming as it is about refusing.

Here are a few things I’m refusing:
-Divide & conquer strategies
-Internalizing deficit narratives that minimize the impacts of systems of harm
-The erasure of intersectional lived experiences
-Belonging barriers rooted in racial impostor syndrome, identity policing & external validation

If this feels aligned, tell me more! What is one thing you’re refusing on *your* healing journey?”

What happens when we slow down together and get curious about who we’re becoming?

🗣️New dialogue gatherings are coming. We launch the 2026 season MARCH 28TH!

Hosted by Lola Osunkoya & Alissa Paris, these gently facilitated conversations create space to slow down together while exploring identity, healing, solidarity, and visions for more liberated, antiracist futures.

Some themes will be planned, and others will emerge from what participants bring into the room. Come with your questions, stories, reflections, and curiosities—we’ll shape the space together.
Examples of what we explore:
 • our identity journeys
 • what healing can look like in community
 • visions for more liberated, antiracist futures
 • what solidarity across communities and liberation struggles looks like in practice

Along the way, expect:
 ✨ writing and reflection
 ✨ reading and poetry
 ✨ creative expression and art-making
 ✨ thoughtful conversation
 ✨ a few creative surprises
Who this space is for:
✨ Black, Indigenous, and people of color of all skin tones
 ✨ Ages 18+
✨ People who identify with and connect to experiences of being mixed, mixed race, multiracial, biracial, multiethnic, and/or transracial or transnational adoptees
If this speaks to your experience, we hope you’ll join us. There’s a seat for you in the circle.
