Land Stewardship Action endorses Dan McGrath for Minnesota State House District 64A because he will be a leader from day one. Dan has led progressive grassroots campaigns for decades. He is an organizer. He brings people together through the kind of relationship building, dialogue, and gentle leadership that represent the best of democratic ideals. And just as important, he knows how to win on issues including affordable health care, quality public schools, and a fair shake for all working families.

We've endorsed Dan because he understands what is needed in our food and farming system. He understands how corporate interests have put the squeeze on farmers, while they also hike prices and cut the quality of food on grocery store shelves. As a board member with Land Stewardship Project, he has worked hand in hand with farmers on campaigns and legislation, and we know he will continue this as a State Representative.

“Local foods are a great way to connect kids with where their food comes from. Kind of spark an interest that they might not have otherwise, if they’re just getting their green beans out of a can from the factory. So that emphasis on farm to school has been really great. The Lieutenant Governor has been a big supporter of that in the past and I think that will hopefully continue.”

Land Stewardship Action has not made an endorsement for the 2026 Minnesota Senate race but was pleased to host this listening event with Lt. Governor Flanagan as an opportunity for our members to engage in conversation with a candidate and learn more about where they stand on the topics that matter most.

Lt. Gov. Flanagan gets to the root of the problems Northland farmers are facing by learning about their struggles operating their businesses.

On Friday LSA was honored to host Peggy Flanagan at Food Farm in Wrenshall, MN.

We had a full room of folks passionate to talk with her about how we can make agriculture work for small, regenerative farmers covering topics from land access, emerging farmers to market access.

This is one of several “kitchen table” events she is having across the state for her campaign for U.S. Senate. Thank you so much the Fischer Merritt’s for hosting us.
