ANNOUNCEMENT:
A MESSAGE FROM KATHY KARKULA:
Hi to all!
I am reaching out to you first and foremost because of all you have given to the Northland 300, Special Olympics and to me. For the past 38 years you have displayed more loyalty than I ever could have hoped for. 38 years ago, the Northland 300 was just an idea of the best of all charity rides, 300 miles meant this was for the snowmobile enthusiasts and Special Olympics was our charity of choice due to the people they serve. Following our presentation to Special Olympics – they accepted what we were trying to do and how we wanted to do such an event.
Thus began our very first NL300.
Starting off with 31 snowmobilers, a one-day event and very few actual trails, we began our journey into what would become a legendary event. We put together a committee that would work on recruiting more riders and then developing our ride into a 4-night, 5-day fundraising event that brings us into where we are today. All this happened because of people that cared. They cared about snowmobiling and they believed in the charity that we were supporting. It seemed like we attracted snowmobilers who really cared. But like all good things, even our wonderful NL300 must come to an end.
As of our 2026 NL300, our event will be retiring. We hope to make it to a $6 million mark in fundraising and that is a milestone to be proud of. I can guarantee you that you will want to be among the 80 people that we will cap at for this event. But we will go out with a “roar”!!
