📣Calling all South Minneapolis middle and high school rippers!📣

Registration is now open for the 2026 school mountain bike season. It’s a fall sport but registration closes at the end of May. If you know a student who will be entering 6th - 12th grade next year and likes to ride you should check out the 612MTB team…and get registered.

612mtb is a youth development mountain bike team serving riders in 6th - 12th grades, who live in south Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Our riders attend, or will attend, Southwest, Washburn, Roosevelt, and South high schools, or reside in south Minneapolis and attend other schools without teams of their own.

📣 It’s bike bus szn! 🚲 😊 🌼 🏫

Lake Nokomis Community School Bike Bus day is, FRIDAY MAY 8TH. If you are reading this you are invited to join fellow LNCS students and caregivers and community members on the best bike bus around.

A bike bus is a group of folks riding their bike along a predefined route picking up other riders, on their own bikes, as they ride toward a final destination. It’s just like a school bus, but way cooler. Caregivers are expected to ride with their child to their school.

The LNCS Bike Bus will leave from near Agrarian Seed and Garden (52nd St at 47th Ave) at 8:30 AM, then work our way towards Wenonah, picking up riders at designated stops along 52nd St. Keewaydin students will peel off at 30th Ave. At 26th Ave we will head South, toward Wenonah along Shoreview Ave. See the “rough” schedule below for the location of each stop.

Estimated Schedule for the Bike Bus:

8:15 AM: Rendezvous at Agrarian Seed and Garden (47th Ave and 52nd St), this is where most people like to join the ride
8:30 AM: Leave from Agrarian Seed and Garden
8:35 AM: Stop 1: 40th Ave and 52nd St
8:40 AM: Stop 2: 35th Ave and 52nd St
8:45 AM: Stop 3: 30th Ave and 52nd St (Arrive at Keewaydin School)
8:50 AM: Stop 4: 26th Ave and 52nd St
8:55 AM: Stop 5: 54th St and Shoreview Ave
9:00 AM: Arrive at Wenonah School - Coffee and connecting for adult bikers!

Because of various after school activities there will not be a bike bus for the ride home after school. Caregivers are responsible for making sure their child and their child’s teacher know how the student will be getting home from school - include a note, email, or message via Talking Points if it’s different than usual.

**Caregivers are responsible for making safe choices for getting their children safely to and from school. All participants must wear bike helmets.

**Remember a bike lock!

South Minneapolis rips and pics.

In tonight’s installment of what Minneapolis Bike Park are we at now we visited the Nokomis Skills Park. It’s just north of Lake Nokomis and was the first bike specific bike park built in Mpls or the surrounding communities. Assembled in June 2019, it served as a model for ways to bring off street, non-singletrack bike infrastructure to urban parks.
