♻️✨ Turn trash into treasure at Twin Cities Maker!

Join us for Recycle Night on July 15th from 6-8pm, a free community art event where we’ll transform recycled materials into unique works of art through collage and mixed media. Bring old magazines, cardboard, fabric scraps, unused art supplies, or other creative materials to share or just bring yourself!

We’ll also be collecting donations for our Art Supply Drive to support community art organizations.

Mark your calendars… this September 12th 10am - 5pm is our third annual Twin Cities Maker Fest! This year, TCMF will be a free street fair on 31st Ave and 26th St in South Minneapolis, with free activities, demonstrations, performances, food trucks, and a makers’ market with 150 local artists and craftspeople.

Applications for the TCMF Makers’ Market are now open! Makers and artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply (no AI). We are dedicated to supporting makers with marginalized identities, as well as new and emerging artists, so priority may be given to members of these communities. Application closes: August 28th (or earlier if all slots are filled)

✨ Member Make Highlight ✨

“I’m normally more of a fiber artist and I do a lot of sewing and knitting,” Alyssa shared. When they discovered the Maker space laser cutter, they started thinking about how this could support their textile arts.

Having never used a laser cutter before, they wanted to start with a project that wasn’t too complicated but still allowed them to learn the software. Inspired by people online who cross-stitch on unconventional surfaces like fences and pegboards, they decided to create their own laser cut cross-stitch piece featuring some favorite Nintendo characters.

To make it happen, they “measured the diameter of my large sewing needle (4mm with some wiggle room), and then converted it into a vector drawing in LightBurn.”

The result is a combination of fiber arts and digital fabrication, and a perfect example of how learning a new tool can open up new creative possibilities.

“It was a great way for me to learn how to use the software and also make some art of my favorite Nintendo characters.”

🎨✂️ LINO CUT NIGHT ✂️🎨

Join us on Wednesday, June 10th 6-8pm for a night of carving, printing, and community making!

This event is FREE and open to all!

Create your own lino cut stamp and contribute to a large collaborative print that will be displayed at Twin Cities Maker. Whether you’re an experienced printmaker or trying it for the first time, everyone is welcome.

No experience necessary
If you have your own carving gouges, please bring them, tools are limited!

⚡️🔌🔋 Electronics in need of repair? Don’t throw them out - bring them to Troubleshoot Tuesday at Twin Cities Maker! This free electronics repair clinic is held 7-9pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month.
Our volunteer technicians will help you diagnose your electronics issues and do some basic repairs.
Sign-up required - link in bio! And while you’re at it, check out our monthly clothes mending and plastics repair clinics as well.

These clinics are held in partnership with Clean Water Action, Free Geek TC, and MN Tech for Success.

For the past 10 months, TCM member Don has been working across the makerspace to build this functional model plane! The TCM Woodshop, Laser, 3D Printer, Vacuum Former, Machine shop, CNC router, and Metal shops were all utilized to bring this project from concept in Fusion 360 to completed airplane ready to fly this spring.
