Hi everyone! Amanda and Frank donated some cat and dog food and p**p bags!! We are delivering on Saturday, so most of this stuff will be going out to grateful clients and happy pets. Ani-Meals is blessed to have generous volunteers.

Update on my adopted dog, Ollie: I've been able to get a leash on him three times and take him for a short walk--this is huge! He has been sitting at attention on my bed a lot; he seems to think it's a safe spot. I decided he must feel lonely when TillieBean and I are in the other room, so I turned on Jazz 88.5. The next time I looked in on him, he was totally stretched out listening to George Benson!! He is very attached to Tillie--as long as she is near he knows he is safe. I hope eveyrone has a good week.

Kande and Delphine went with a group of friends to the Museum of Russian Art to view an exhibition of paintings with cats and dogs. They decided to combine it with a food drive for Ani-Meals; it was a delightful surprise to receive all this food last Saturday! Kande and Delphine have been delivering pet food to Ani-Meals clients once a month for several years--we are lucky to have them as volunteers! AND the art exhibit was fabulous, it was fun to see animals interacting with humans in paintings.

Hi everyone, Sidewalkdog.com had an article that explains how to keep your dog alive during heat waves. I thought that cars were the problem but that's just 5% of heatstroke cases. Three out of four canine heatstroke cases are from exercising. The picture is of my new dog Ollie. He's a scaredy dog, but getting braver every day! Here is the article:

We picked up a beautiful seal-point Siamese cat on Monday. His owner is moving and can't take Tyson with him. Tyson is about two years old, male, friendly, thin but is a good size and gets along with Jen's cat and dog. Jen is fostering him until we can get him place at The Bond Between. I don't think he's neutered yet, but he is being vaccinated Tuesday. He is so mellow--if I wasn't allergic, I'd take him home! If anyone is interested in adding a friendly cat to your household, please contact me.

We are sorry to say goodbye to Midnight, beloved pet of Terri. Terri said: "Those expressive eyes always moved me. Midnight was an intuitive, independent thinker, and his personality matched mine after my son left him in my care at about 1 year old. I gave him space to adjust.
Looking back, his watchful eye reflected whether to trust, and he was hopeful about our bond, which took time to establish.
Past photos show our early connection.
My beloved Midnight will be missed terribly." I think that the light-colored dogs are his children and I'm sure they miss their dad. I only met him once, but I was immediately drawn to his sweet disposition. I'm sure our beloved pets wait for us in heaven!

Riley & Kirby want to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day! They are faithful fans of Ani-Meals and have been donating Purina Dog Chow Little Bites to all their buddies that receive Ani-Meals for several months. It is heartwarming to have people of Minnesota coming together to take care of each other. Thank you to evyerone who cares and is helping their neighbors. Have a great weekend and enjoy the sun!!

Some kind soul had 7 bags of Purina Dog Chow Little Bites delivered to us--which is exactly what we need for our February delivieries! The problem is that the delivery person left them at our door over the weekend and we found three empty boxes by our front door on Monday. We truly appreciate everyones help--but it's better to order on a Sunday so the donation arrives during the week. In the past Chewy just redelivered, but this time I was told they would contact the customer to get permission to resend.

Other than that, I hope everyone has a good day! Fyi, CES has increased our food shelf hours to: Tuesday-Thursday: 1pm to 6pm and Friday: 1pm-3pm. You can make an appointment online or by phone (612-870-1125) and you can also come to the food shelf twice a month. You can findout more about CES at: cesmn.org

I got to work to find a box of goodies from Chewy! Thanks to the generosity of Roberta, we have enough Fancy Feast cans and litter for our December delivery and a good start on Wellness cat pouches. Roberta also gave us some gift cards we can use for pet food at Aldi. Thank you Roberta!

I picked up presents from Gifts For Seniors and we are wrapping the presents to be delivered with the December pet food deliveries. For some of our seniors, this is the only present they receive. Gifts for Seniors tries very hard to give each client what they wished for; they are a great organization.
