Nomadic Brotherhood at the West Bank

Nomadic Brotherhood at the West Bank Brotherhood is a group for young men on the West Bank, Cedar Riverside. We discuss issues relating to systemic/institutionalized racism.

The Brotherhood program at the Brian Coyle community center is seeking funding for an educational trip to Atlanta, Georgia. .We hope to take 9 young men who graduated from high school this year, along with 3 adults who will be chaperoning. The goal of the trip is to positively reinforce the successful completion of high school and to motivate our young men to continue on the road of success. We wi

ll visit colleges such as Morehouse and Spellman and other historically significant sites, like sweet Auburn historic district, martin Luther king Jr. Center and Atlanta history Center to name a few. This is one of the more powerful ways to inspire, educate and empower our young people; we need to provide our youth opportunities to step out beyond their communities, the educational trip would be a chance for personal growth and leadership development. In our efforts to raise funding for this project, which would cost 15 thousand, we have raised 7 thousand. The remaining 8 thousand is what we need help with. This will have to be done by July 1st, but we are confident in our community to help us reach our goal of 15 thousand. We hope you can commit and invest in this youth initiative to inspire, educate and empower our young people.

There exists a united front within our community. We extended an invitation to the community, urging them to actively participate and imagine the most effective utilization of our shared space. However, it is the self-serving agendas of certain individuals, driven by their business and political aspirations, that generate unwarranted disputes and hinder our collective progress.

Their efforts to discredit valid grievances are aimed at sowing widespread confusion and manipulating individuals, diverting attention and deflecting from the real issues at hand. Osman Shiekh explicitly highlights the profit-driven nature of this situation, while AJ Awed makes groundless allegations of community organizations being disregarded. Both individuals have had ample opportunities and resources to actively involve the community, yet they chose to misuse their time and assets by hijacking our December 8th Dania Hall event to propagate falsehoods and unfounded accusations.

The Cedar-Riverside neighborhood in Minneapolis is divided over how to develop the vacant lot that used to house Dania Hall.

“Your community is not more safe bc you have more police it’s safer bc your community has more resources. The most violent communities have the most police present and the fewest resources available”
