At Partnership Resources, we believe that a truly inclusive community is one where everyone belongs. Because of community support, we’re able to build strong partnerships across the community and walk alongside individuals with disabilities as they make person-centered choices about their lives.

Each month leading up to MITS, we highlight one of our wonderful partner organizations; next up, we have Partnership Resources, Inc.!!That means more opportunities to be seen, heard, and included—whether it’s volunteering, creating art, contributing skills, finding meaningful work, or building lasting relationships.

Inclusion isn’t just a value—it’s something we create together.

Join us in building that community! Be part of Team PRI at the 35th Annual Made in the Shade Walk, Run & Roll on Saturday, September 19. For 2026, all Made in the Shade contributions will provide community access opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This includes opportunities for recreation and wellness, arts and culture, volunteering and working in the community.

Whether you walk, run, roll, or donate, your participation helps make inclusion possible.

Sign up, invite a friend, and help create a community where everyone is recognized for their talents and the value they bring.

Each month leading up to MITS, we are featuring an impact story, of how MITS has helped improve the lives of individuals with disabilities that we are proud to support. This month, we are highlighting Wingspan Life Resources!

Meet Peter! Peter has been a Wingspan client since 2008 and lives at Fairview House, one of our 36 group homes throughout the Twin Cities. Peter’s baritone voice is admired in Wingspan’s Glee Club. He has been a member since the club began in 2013, and his entire family including his sister, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews all turn out to cheer him on during concerts. Some family members even join him on stage! Peter has always loved singing. He grew up watching the Lawrence Welk show and dancing on his grandfather’s feet. Peter also got to sing with the Bill Graham Crusade Choir and has always been a big Elvis fan.

Peter’s loving family are his strongest supporters: they don’t just show up for Glee Club- they also love to join in the fun at Made in the Shade! Pictured here is Peter (center); his nephew, Michael; and Michael's wife, Jennifer. Michael furthers Wingspan’s mission to empower people impacted by disabilities, including his uncle Peter, as a member of Wingspan’s Board of Directors. We’re excited to celebrate our favorite annual get-together with Peter, his family and many others at Lake Bde Maka Ska again this year!

Each month leading up to MITS, we featured an impact story, of how MITS has helped improve the lives of individuals with disabilities that we are proud to support. This week of MITS, we are highlighting The Phoenix Residence Inc.!

Meet Wendy from The Phoenix Residence! She lives at our Newport House and has been a regular at Made in the Shade for 6 years. It’s one of her favorite events of the year!

“I like going every year to see all the different people and meeting new friends,” said Wendy. “My favorite part is walking around the lake, even though I never do the full walk. I like walking.”
This year, her house is hoping to raise enough donations for new patio furniture. Wendy and her housemates love to have barbecues, make smores, listen to music, and work on their crossword books out on their patio, but the furniture is getting old and needs an update!

Help Wendy – or any of our homes – reach their goal! Each home has a goal of what they are fundraising for. Not only does your support improve their lives, but it also strengthens our person-centered mission of providing the best care possible. We are here to help them live happy and fulfilling lives! Wendy hopes to see you down at the lake this Saturday!

Each month, leading up to Made in the Shade on Sept. 20, one of our partner organizations will be featuring an impact story, of how MITS has helped improve the lives of individuals with disabilities that we are proud to support. Next up, PAI!!

PAI is proud to celebrate 35 years of service this year, and there’s no better way to honor this milestone than by participating in Made in the Shade! This beloved walk, run, and roll event not only raises vital funds for inclusive programming, but also brings our community together to celebrate ability, connection, and progress.

This year, we’re changing things up! Our site-based kickoff events, formerly known as warm-ups—will now be called Made in the 1990s: A 35-Year Celebration! Inspired by the decade PAI was founded, these celebrations are a fun and festive way for participants to join in the excitement leading up to the big event. Even if someone can’t attend the walk at the lake, they’ll still get to celebrate in style at their program site.

Thanks to Made in the Shade, we can continue offering the life-enriching experiences that empower the people we serve and keep the momentum going for the next 35 years and beyond!"

Meet Bob!
Bob had an unforgettable time at the 2024 Made in the Shade fundraiser. From collecting fun freebies and chatting with vendors to enjoying the live music and seeing familiar faces from TSE, Bob made the most of every moment.
But that’s not all Bob went above and beyond by raising an impressive $300 for the cause! His dedication earned him a $60 gift card from TSE as a thank-you for his outstanding fundraising efforts.
Bob’s creativity also took center stage; his artwork won first place in the art contest! The previous year Bob was in the top 10 so participating in the contest and seeing the community vote was a highlight for him!

July is Disability Pride Month! The theme “We Belong Here, and We’re Here to Stay” delivers a powerful message; people with disabilities are a vital part of every community. Not someday. Not conditionally. Now.

In support of our MITS partners; Episcopal Group Homes, Inc., PAI,
Partnership Resources, Inc., The Phoenix Residence Inc., TSE, Inc.,
Wingspan Life Resources and Homeward Bound, Inc.

From Arc: Disability Pride Month is a time to recognize the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of people with disabilities. It affirms that disability is a natural and valuable part of human diversity—not a deficit or condition to be fixed.

More than 1 in 4 adults in the United States—over 70 million people—have a disability. This month calls on everyone to promote inclusion and ensure people with disabilities are accepted exactly as they are, without conditions.

Disability Pride Month is an annual observance in July that celebrates people with disabilities, commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and promotes disability culture and visibility.

Disability Pride Month recognizes the importance of the ADA, which was signed into law on July 26, 1990. It highlights disability culture, history, and community pride. This month challenges the harmful idea that people with disabilities need to conform to norms to live meaningful lives. Their lives are just as full, valuable, and worthy of respect—no more, no less.

The first Disability Pride celebration was a Disability Pride Day that took place in Boston in 1990. Chicago hosted the first Disability Pride Parade in 2004. Now there are events nationwide empowering people with disabilities to take pride in who they are.

As disability rights face growing threats in education, employment, health care, and public life, this year’s theme is a clear call to action. It pushes back against ableism—discrimination and bias against people with disabilities—and exclusion. It reminds us that people with disabilities will not be erased, ignored, or pushed aside.

Why Celebrate Disability Pride Month?
Many people with disabilities still face barriers to being fully included and valued. Ableism is often ignored, but its effects are real. It limits access to education, jobs, health care, and respect.

Disability Pride Month challenges that. At its core, Disability Pride is about being accepted on our own terms. It says disability is not something to hide or fix—it’s part of who we are. Everyone deserves inclusion, rights, and respect, without having to earn them.
