The Electrical Association is a non-profit trade association that was founded in 1928. We are a member-owned service organization that provides information, education, books/forms, and government representation to electrical contractors and their stakeholders.

Yesterday our team was fortunate to spend time together at Cannon River Winery! Beyond the great food, w**e, and conversation, we were treated to a full tour of the operation and a closer look at the w**emaking process 🍷

Spoiler alert: Electricity plays a role at nearly every step. Fermentation tanks, pumps, filtration, and bottling lines all depend on reliable power, and the electrical systems behind them are a big part of what makes a modern w**ery run. It was a fun reminder that the work our industry does shows up just about everywhere ⚡

A compliance reminder worth sharing with every registered unlicensed electrician on your team:

When renewing their registration each year, registered unlicensed electricians must report their work experience from the previous year and complete two hours of DLI-approved continuing education.

The responsibilities are shared:

⚡ Employers must track each worker’s individual work-experience hours.

⚡ The employer’s responsible licensed individual must verify and sign the worker’s experience form.

⚡ The worker is ultimately responsible for submitting the completed form to DLI during renewal.

Failure to report work experience could prevent those hours from counting toward the minimum experience required to take the journeyworker license exam.

These are exactly the kinds of details that can be easy to miss while managing crews, projects and an electrical contracting business. EA’s free Minnesota Electrical Contractor Business Management Checklist helps contractors keep important licensing, registration, continuing-education and compliance responsibilities on their radar.

Our team was proud to be part of this week’s Minnesota Solar Energy Industries Association (MnSEIA) Gateway to Solar Conference. ☀️

Throughout the two-day conference, we learned more about the opportunities and challenges shaping Minnesota’s solar industry, connected with industry leaders, and explored the growing overlap between solar and the broader electrical industry.

A special shoutout to our Head of Strategic Partnerships, Cynthia Bennett, who is also serving as MnSEIA’s Interim Executive Director, and our Government Affairs & Compliance Consultant, Michelle Dreier, who shared her expertise during a workforce-focused panel discussion.

As the electrical industry continues to evolve, we see tremendous value in staying connected across sectors, learning from one another, and finding new ways to support the contractors and professionals doing the work.
