Happy Thanksgiving.

October 3, 1863, President Lincoln, amid the Civil War and months after the costly Battle of Gettysburg, issued his Presidential Proclamation that designated the last Thursday of November as a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise". He hoped this shared day of gratitude would help heal the wounds of the nation.
