We are excited to welcome Anaya Twum to the Code Savvy board of directors!

Anaya Twum is a project leader at 3M and a passionate advocate for education, mentorship, and community empowerment. Her commitment to service began in high school, when she volunteered in Bosnia and Croatia to support children affected by war, an experience that shaped her lifelong dedication to creating opportunities for others.

Today, Anaya continues to serve through leadership roles with PMI Minnesota and TeamWomen, championing professional development and women’s empowerment. As a mom of a daughter and a son, she advocates for girls in STEM, especially girls of color, and she believes development is continuous and can happen at any stage of a person’s life.

As a Code Savvy board member, Anaya is excited to help expand access to technology education and empower the next generation of innovators and leaders. Her commitment aligns closely with Code Savvy’s work to close gender, racial, and socioeconomic gaps in computer science education for youth ages 8 to 18.

Welcome, Anaya! We are glad to have you with us as we work to reach more students and mentors across all of our programs!

🎓 Teachers, you know the students who light up when they get to build something instead of just reading about it. This is a global competition made for them.

Technovation Minnesota is a global technology entrepreneurship competition. Students team up, solve a problem in their community, build an app, and submit their project to compete globally. They also get to compete in the Minnesota regional pitch event for a chance to win prizes. No prior coding experience required.

Your keynote on the missing rung named something we see every day: the early rungs of a tech career are where people learn to add value, and someone has to build them.

Clockwork has been a long time supporter of our work, and we are grateful to be part of the effort alongside you. 💜

If you work in tech, product, design, marketing, or business, you can help build a rung. In Technovation Minnesota, students ages 8 to 18 identify a real problem in their community, build an app to solve it, create a business around that app, and pitch their venture to judges. Mentors guide each team from first idea to final pitch, about 1 hour a week from November through May.

What a beautiful day at Innovation @ the Park! ☀️🌳

Yesterday, the Code Savvy team set up shop in Rice Park in downtown Saint Paul, and we had a blast connecting with so many members of our local tech community. Thank you to Full Stack Saint Paul and Minnestar for hosting such a fantastic event and bringing everyone together!

If we missed you, don't worry, there's still time to get involved! 💜 We're looking for mentors for Technovation Minnesota, our technology entrepreneurship program where students work in teams to identify a problem in their community and build a tech solution to solve it.

No coding experience is required. If you bring curiosity, encouragement, and a willingness to support young changemakers, you'd make a great mentor.

Introducing What Could You Build?, our new blog series written by Bree Volker, spotlighting Technovation Minnesota participants and the technology they create to solve problems in their communities! 💡

In our first feature, meet Technovation Minnesota alum Reeha Ibrahim. With her team, T.A.R.A.S., Reeha helped build SafeHaven, an app that keeps college students informed about safety incidents near campus.

Reeha shares how the team turned a community concern into a working app, how Technovation jumpstarted her journey into software, and why asking for help is one of the most important skills a builder can have. Now heading to college, she's already thinking about how technology could help solve challenges in healthcare.
