Uprising Theatre Company

Uprising Theatre Company We believe in the power of stories to change the world. We are Uprising Theatre Company in Minneapolis.

We tell stories that challenge perceptions, bring light to justice issues, and provide new ways forward. We produce new and established plays that deal with social justice issues in a way that’s evocative and creative. We partner with local organizations who are working on the issues presented in the show to funnel the energy and excitement generated by storytelling into action that will make the world a better place.

From an audience member:

Apples in Winter--so sensitively researched, beautifully written and acted, powerful, unforgettable. And I loved setting it in the church kitchen! Uprising in general: I always appreciated that it brought a new or nuanced point of view to all its stories.

From an audience member:

Your performance of "These Shining Lives" was revelatory, and I was so touched and inspired that I came back with several of my theatre students so they could experience it as well; we even chose to do "Radium Girls" as the One-Act Play the following year because the story was so important to us. Thank you for bravely staging significant art for the masses - we will truly miss you!
