It is with great sadness that we inform you all of the passing of Peter Lynn.
Peter, you have left a massive space in the sky and you will be deeply missed.
We are all thinking of Peter's family at this sad time. Xoxo

We have made the decision to cancel the 2026 Color the Wind Kite Festival due to unsafe ice conditions near the shoreline on Clear Lake. After closely monitoring the ice in partnership with local safety officials, it was determined that the ice is not stable enough to host the event. Safety is always our top priority.

We also explored moving the festival to land, but FAA regulations, space limitations, parking, and lack of electricity make that option unworkable.

We know how much this event means to our community and visitors. Our team is just as disappointed, but safety must come first.

Thank you for your support of Color the Wind. We look forward to better conditions and bringing the festival back next year, Feb. 20, 2027.

The Kites on Ice event in Buffalo, MN on Feb 10th is canceled because of deteriorating ice conditions.

They have lost several inches of ice, no snow, layer of water and slush. Ten day forecast is for temps in the mid 40's.

Safety first. Next year will be perfect conditions.

Copied from the time to fly group:

It looks like Lake Harriet is still on for this Saturday. No snow on the lake so good ice cleats are recommended.
