Today's speaker was Tom Rassieur, John E. Andrus III Curator of Prints and Drawings, at Minneapolis Institute of Art . He gave us an in depth look at their latest exhibit, Modern Art and Politics in Germany 1910–1945. Germany after World War I saw many different art movements move through the National Art Gallery during those tumultuous years. Each piece tells the story of the time from politicizing experimental artwork to statements made artists both in favor of and opposed to the government's regime.
