Today, Rick Lundin told us about the perspective of an architect and the prominent buildings he has helped design and how to appreciate the intent of the architect when we look at buildings in our city. Doug Rossinow, from Metro State University, spoke about the history of our country’s founding as a republic from the perspective of the founders. The founders didn’t want a monarchy or a democracy, but rather a republic. Today that intent has changed to mean there is the consent of the governed. We focus now on 1776, rather than 1789 when the constitution was adopted because of the historical influence of Abraham Lincoln.
