Join Friends of Minnehaha Park for “Spring Happenings Along the Creek,” a nature walk below the falls at Minnehaha Park with volunteer naturalist Dave Crawford to learn about spring ephemeral wildflowers in the park.

The 2026 Earth Day Cleanup is coming up next weekend at Minnehaha Park! This is a fun drop-in volunteer activity — no need to pre-register! Simply arrive at 9:30 AM on Saturday, April 18th. We’ll check you in, distribute equipment, and provide instructions.

Location: Sign in at Minnehaha Park near Sea Salt, 4801 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis. Parking is free in Minnehaha Park lots and Park Board meters until 1:00pm.

Event Description
This year’s cleanup takes place throughout the City of Minneapolis and is a collaboration between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and City of Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling.

Update — we’re pivoting from removing buckthorn tomorrow, April 11. The spring perennials are just emerging. We’ll still meet, if anyone wants to join us to remove burdock.

Update: We’ll be working in the park to remove burdock 🍃 this Saturday, April 11, from 1:00-3:00pm, or until we’re chased away by rain. 🌧️

The buckthorn is located in zones where the early spring perennials are just beginning to emerge, so we're pivoting. If it doesn't go a full two hours, you'll enjoy a pleasant walk on the new boardwalk.

We volunteers devote our time and energies to protecting and sustaining the natural environment in our city’s beautiful and iconic Minnehaha Park. We invite you to join us on Saturday.
