Open Streets Minneapolis

Open Streets Minneapolis Open Streets events bring together families and neighbors to mingle, recreate, and shop in their communities in a safe, car-free environment.

Open Streets MPLS™ is a celebration of community, where we close major thoroughfares to car traffic allowing people to walk, bike, roll, and connect with their neighbors and local businesses. After the first event in 2011, the Open Streets Minneapolis initiative has grown to include more opportunities each year to explore and enjoy neighborhood streets by biking, walking, and skating without the p

resence of motorized traffic. Open Streets Minneapolis is an initiative of Our Streets Minneapolis. Learn more at www.openstreetsmpls.com.

Oh, we are so back.

Poet Toi Derricotte reminds us the act of joy in times of mourning and oppression is essential to our collective resistance. We can’t wait for you to join us for our car-free celebration of community, where we’ll experience streets as places to explore, play, and dream.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

We are glad to find out the City of Minneapolis City Council passed funding for the 2024 Open Streets Minneapolis program.

Unfortunately, because the council relied on misinformation from the Public Works Department, the funding amount falls well short of the actual cost of hosting the events.

We will have more detailed information soon. We are waiting to find out if another funding source emerges.
