The Minneapolis Good Chair Project

The Minneapolis Good Chair Project We create environments in Minneapolis parks to share, debate, engage, meditate, laugh, cry and imagine what's possible for yourself and the community. Sit. Read.

Share. Debate. Engage. Breathe. Contemplate. Meditate. Think. Imagine. Laugh. Cry. Kiss. These are the four sayings you'll find on more than 30 specially-designed chairs donated for public use in Currie Park and Lake of the Isles Park by the nonprofit, The Minneapolis Good Chair Project. The goal of the organization is to create a comfortable, welcoming environment to take in all our magnificent p

arks have to offer. And instead of running or biking through, the chairs invite you to sit a spell. Connect with your neighbors. Reflect. Take stock in life's simple joys and share community with others. This first-of-its-kind experiment was created by a group of volunteers led by Mark Addicks, a Minneapolis resident, in partnership with Anita Tabb, a Minneapolis Parks Board Director, and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The chairs are handcrafted by Willie Willette Works, a custom furniture maker in Minneapolis’ Prospect Park neighborhood, using beautiful, yet durable, white oak wood sourced locally.
