I’m Lindsey Smith, Co-Founder and President of Rise Up Humanity. A year ago, I moved to Cairo with my daughter. This move is part of something much bigger.

A year and a half ago, we partnered with Network For Palestine, a grassroots community led by people from Gaza. Together, we have supported more than 35,000 Palestinians who fled the war by providing healthcare, food, rent support, stipends, and a free shopping system where families choose what they need with dignity. We also mentor teens finishing high school. It is life changing work.

This work is critical. Palestinians in Egypt have no refugee status. They cannot work legally or open a bank account. Everything relies on community support.

Follow along, support these families, and stay informed. I am finally ready to share this journey.

Rise Up Humanity is thrilled to announce the re-launch of our on-the-ground humanitarian efforts in Northern Lebanon. After five years of dedicated, behind-the-scenes work, we are reigniting our mission with renewed strength and purpose.

Since 2019, we provided sustainable aid and emergency relief to refugees across three camp settlements, bringing hope and support to thousands. Now, in response to the escalating crises and displacement in the region, we are resuming our mission with a renewed focus on building essential shelters for those in dire need.

The situation in Northern Lebanon has grown increasingly catastrophic, with families facing significant displacement and harsh living conditions. Given the urgent need for safe shelter, we feel the time is now to re-ignite our work and make a tangible impact where it’s needed most. Our team is committed to restoring dignity and security to the vulnerable populations we serve.

Thanks to our volunteers and donations, we continue to be able to provide nutritious foods for camp residents. Our monthly food distributions consist of fresh fruits, vegetables, and produce to help ensure a well balanced diet.

Through needs assessments, we are able to ensure that the needs of camp residents are being met and an accurate reflection of what is needed. Currently, healthy and nutritious foods is a main priority, but we continue to work on additional projects that we hope help work towards creating a sustainable lifestyle for families, and provide beyond just the basic humanitarian necessities.

Nour is an essential member of our team because she works directly with the communities we serve, and is able to bridge the communication between RUH staff and the needs of the community. She is passionate, dedicated and we are forever grateful for everything she does for Rise Up Humanity.
