The FairShare Farm community garden is a shared garden space without individual plots. FairShare Farm has a partnership with the Southeast Seniors.

Founded in 2011, FairShare Farm Community Garden is a space for growing and sharing, an outdoor classroom for teaching and learning, and a neighborhood space for beauty, fun, and pride in work well done while growing fresh produce. The vegetables are grown communally and the harvest is shared with elders in the SE Como area and between participating gardeners. It is a learning space, so all levels of gardeners are welcome.

Interested in growing your own mushrooms? Come attend our edible mushroom log making workshop this weekend, Sunday, June 21st, 1-2pm! We will be inoculating mushroom logs for the garden and walking you through how to make your own! Varieties of we will be talking about or inoculating include oyster, shiitake, winecap, and chestnut mushrooms. Feel free to invite and bring friends, family, and neighbors!

If you have them and/or if you'd like to make a mushroom habitat to take home, please bring: 1-gallon or 1-quart food safe containers with lids (e.g., one-gallon ice cream bucket + lid, one-quart yogurt containers with lids) and coffee grounds!

At FairShare, we currently have 4 shiitake mushroom logs made in 2020 from when we last hosted a mushroom log workshop here. A few weeks ago, gardeners on Thursday night soaked them in the rain barrels for a few hours and the following week, we got a lot of shiitake mushrooms! Swipe for pictures!

Saturday, May 2nd, 12-2pm: FairShare Farm Garden Opening Pizza Event!

Opening garden day with pizza (rain date: the next day)! We will be making pizza (pizza ready around 1pm) and getting the beds ready for the season, planting early vegetables and greens, and more.

Friends, family, neighbors, and neighbor cats all welcome! We invite you to join us, whether you're able to sign-up for the season or not.

Saturday, April 25th, 12-2pm: Irrigation Field Day Party at FairShareFarm

Interested in irrigation and conserving water in the garden? Attend this! We will start by sharing a meal, then move into a hands-on demonstration and workshop on installing drip-tape irrigation. All are welcome.

☀️ The garden is nearly back! ☀️

Coordinators have been hard at work prepping for this upcoming garden season - the Opening Garden Event is on May 2nd at 12pm! 🌱

If you’re interested in getting involved, we are also hosting an irrigation event at the garden on April 25th from 12-2! 🌷

About FairShare Farm:
FairShare Farm is a community garden located at 2112 SE Fairmount St, Minneapolis, MN 55414.
Our growing season runs from May to October.
Members attend a weekly work session and are invited to participate in garden events. There are no individual plots, everyone works on everything and produce is shared among gardeners.
Garden sessions, assigned after you sign up, are Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm and Sundays 2-4pm.
