The Junior League of Minneapolis Catalysts for lasting community change since 1923 Current projects address issues from hunger to nutrition to literacy.

Established in 1923, the Junior League of Minneapolis continues to develop projects to fill needs within the Minneapolis community. Past projects include helping to found the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Free Arts MN and the Jeremiah Program. The Junior League of Minneapolis reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. As the 2025-26 ALl year comes to a close, we also celebrate the completion of JLM Sustainer Kathryn Koessel’s distinguished term on the AJLI Board of Directors.

For the past three years, Kathryn has served as an At-Large Director, bringing invaluable leadership, insight, and experience to the role. Drawing on her years of service with both JLM-including as JLM President in 2007-08—and the New York Junior League, Kathryn has been a thoughtful and trusted voice at the association level.

Reflecting on Kathryn’s impact, AJLI President Alice Glenn shared:

“Kathryn has been an incredible asset to the AJLI Board of Directors. Her thoughtful attention to detail, quiet and strategic guidance, and calm demeanor have made her a trusted and important voice among the directors. I greatly value her insights and also appreciate her dry humor. I am grateful to the Junior League for the chance to know and work with leaders like Kathryn.”

Kathryn, thank you for your unwavering dedication, leadership, and service to JLM and the entire Association of Junior Leagues International. We are grateful for all you have contributed and proud to celebrate your lasting impact.

Melissa, thank you for your leadership, dedication, and stewardship over the last 2 years as president of The Junior League of Minneapolis. The impact you’ve had on The JLM is immeasurable and we are grateful for all of your contributions. As the gavel was passed to Jeni tonight we are excited to see all of the amazing things she will accomplish!
