Our country continues to struggle to contend with the outcomes and proliferation of hundreds of years of racial discord. We are in an era of intense division over how to move toward genuine racial healing and oneness.

Politicians and trainers who attempt to lead the way often deepen division. Some advocate outright dismissal of reconciliation efforts, while others employ unyielding, one-way approaches that amplify fear and stifle curiosity. The results show that very few people, communities, and congregations engage in listening and learning together in ways that promote mutual understanding and flourishing.

What about the Church? Is there a way forward rooted in Scripture and fueled by the Gospel that can bring us together in hope? We resoundingly believe the answer is “Yes!” If you want to connect with others seeking an alternative to worldly ideology and political conformity, we invite you to attend this workshop.

In April, a group of pastors, educators, students, and leaders traveled together on a Sankofa pilgrimage through some of the most important civil rights sites in America. Whitney Plantation. The Legacy Museum. The EJI Memorial. The Edmund Pettus Bridge. 16th Street Baptist Church.

We recorded the conversations that happened along the way. Not interviews. Not scripts. Just real people processing faith, race, and American history together in real time.

I’m so grateful for the life, wisdom, and legacy of Dr. John Perkins, who passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by love, with his wife of 75 years, Vera Mae, faithfully by his side.

His life inspired me to believe that unity in the Body of Christ is an imperative and a worthwhile kingdom pursuit. That relentless pursuit of justice and reconciliation cost him dearly throughout his earthly days.

Though I am deeply grieved by his loss on this side of glory, I do not do so without hope. His passionate love for Jesus, and Jesus’ love for him, is now being marvelously and spectacularly unfolded in His presence.

Please join me in praying for the entire Perkins family.

"This is not just a political issue, it's a discipleship issue." A friend recently wrote this, and I wholeheartedly concur.

Discipleship is always happening; how and by whom we choose to be discipled is for us to steward. Are you weary of politically induced discipleship? Is the practice of selective theology, where parts of the Bible are chosen to affirm opinions, but other passages are ignored because they are disruptive, troubling you? Are there ways to holistically apply the Sacred Text to life in our current context?
