One more summer look-back! ☀️

This summer, we were honored to be selected as a $10,000 Catalyst Grant recipient from the Ordean Foundation!

This generous support helps Montgomery Sports Foundation continue our work removing financial barriers to youth sports in our community — giving more kids the opportunity to register, participate, and be part of a team.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Ordean Foundation for investing in our mission and in the young athletes we serve. Thank you for helping us keep kids in the game! 🏆

🏃 SKIP THE QUEUE. RUN WITH US.

Montgomery Sports Foundation is back as a charity partner for Grandma’s Marathon Weekend 2027, with up to 50 charity bibs available across all three races!

Here’s how it works:
➡️ October 9: We’ll receive all of the information on our charity runner program.
➡️ Sign up as a charity runner through the MSF registration portal.
➡️ Fundraise $600 Marathon | $500 Half | $250 5K
➡️ MSF covers the cost of your bib for race day.
➡️ Raise more if you’d like — every dollar helps local kids play sports!

Youth sports are becoming more expensive than ever. The Minnesota Star Tribune reports that the average family spent more than $1,000 on a child’s primary sport in 2024, a 46% increase in just five years. Add multiple sports, multiple children, registration fees and equipment, and those costs can quickly become overwhelming.

The result is that some kids never even get the opportunity to suit up. As one Minnesota parent put it, “The sheer cost of these programs is a huge barrier, and it shuts out a lot of kids.”

That’s the barrier Montgomery Sports Foundation was created to break through. By helping families with registration fees and equipment costs, MSF works to make sure kids have the opportunity to play, regardless of what their family can afford.

The escalating pursuit of an “elite” athlete is testing what Minnesota families can afford — and endure.

MAGICAL.

That's how last Wednesday's Play it Forward Gala at Greysolon Ballroom felt. It felt magical.

Why'd it feel magical?

You.

Yup. You.

More than 200 people DECKED OUT in their favorite sports jersey made it ANOTHER night to remember.

Keep in mind, our foundation is not even 3 years old, and we've already had 2 successful fundraising galas.

That says more about this community than ANYTHING. We knew there was a need to help kids pay for sports, and you stepped up.

And you KEEP stepping up.

This time, it was $61,000 raised in ONE NIGHT.

Sports are EXPENSIVE in 2026. That money will help kids GET IN THE GAME. Kids who otherwise might not play sports because of financial barriers. Kids who NOW get to make friends, get some exercise, and have FUN.

Because of you.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU to EVERYONE who attended the 2026 Play it Forward Gala. You're amazing.
