We lose coworkers, friends and loved ones far too often in EMS. Our hearts go out to his family and our union brothers and sisters at IAEP

HCAPE President and his family are out door knocking for Senator Judy Seeberger today. “We support those who support us” is a mantra of the IAFF and for Local 5651, Senator Seeberger has been an invaluable ally of EMS and organized labor.

Happy October from all of us at Hennepin EMS . The decision by Hennepin Healthcare and Hennepin County, Minnesota board to keep Chief Scheerer in his “leadership” position is really paying dividends!

We remember EMT Marina Challeen, who died in the line of duty 9 years ago today. Marina’s family said she was a “champion of the underdog” who would help anyone who needed it. She will be remembered as a good person, who loved comic books and Star Trek.

“You cannot say goodbye to somebody like Marina,” the family said in a statement. “She was accepting of people for who they were, looked for the best in everybody and loved to share and celebrate that best. She had a love of helping and healing people and for listening. You cannot say goodbye to that, all we can do is extend it to each other.”

We honor and remember Marina. We mourn a life lost too young and vow to never forget.

This is the aggregated data of Hennepin EMS staffing in quarter 1, 2026. During this period Hennepin Healthcare made millions in profit from the ambulance service, while providing shoddy coverage for communities. “Leaders” will tell you “we’re hiring many more medics”, however they refuse to retain the providers who have suffered under mismanagement since 2020. Having a revolving door of new responders, while experienced clinicians are pushed out the door by toxic leaders is the definition of a bad plan! Like and share if you agree or reach out to Hennepin County Government and tell them you want a change

We’ve said it many times but I bears repeating: Judy For Senate has been a steadfast champion for EMS, firefighters and police. She knows the tough job we do and fights like hell in St. Paul to get us the resources and support we need!

Violent attacks against first responders are on the rise. That's why I was proud to work with Hennepin County Association of Paramedics and EMTs on legislation that increases penalties for assaulting an EMS worker or firefighter on the job.

I fought hard to get this across the finish line because no amount of violence directed at our first responders is acceptable.

I will always stand with public safety.

More exciting news to share from the MN Professional Firefighters convention…HCAPE President Shane Hallow was appointed the first ever EMS District VP! This will allow Shane to use the expertise he has gained leading HCAPE and help other locals across the state.
