Candlemaking: Buckthorn Carving & Beeswax Casting
May 23 & 24, Noon–3 PM
In this two-day workshop, we’ll carve buckthorn saved from burn piles, make silicone molds from our carvings, and cast beeswax taper candles from the space left behind.
The result: a functional candle, a reusable mold, and a small handmade archive of two complicated species — buckthorn and honeybee — held together through craft.
Participants will learn safe woodcarving techniques, then leave with a high-quality silicone candle mold, two beeswax candles, wick, resources, and instructions for continuing at home.
Open to beginners with general hand dexterity, reach out to discuss accessibility accommodations. Carving knives provided; you’re welcome to bring your own.
