Today, as our nation pauses to observe Memorial Day, we lay aside our working tools to honor a debt that can never fully be repaid. We gather in spirit to remember the brave men and women who laid down their lives on the altar of freedom.

Let us not just mourn their loss, but celebrate their legacy. May we live our lives in a manner worthy of their sacrifice, squaring our actions and keeping their memory enshrined forever in the archives of our hearts.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Have a blessed and safe Memorial day.

While no attendance records were broken, we still had a wonderful time and some great fellowship at our inaugural 24th Masonic District Euchre tournament. There were seasoned vets present as well as a couple brand new to the game (who managed to hold their own just fine). Not only did we have coneys and snacks to eat, but we also served up some humble pie as our WM lost his first hand of Euchre EVER 🤣.

Leaving with bragging rights (winners via most points scored ) and a coveted spot on our plaque are the father and son team consisting of WBs James and Paul Richardson.

Congratulations. And thank you to all who traveled to join us. We look forward to the next one, so stay tuned.

This evening, the Brethren of Augusta Masonic Lodge had the distinct pleasure of attending the MHS awards banquet in order to present the annual Enos. O "Red" & Ruth M. Jameson scholarships to the class of 2026 recipients. This scholarship is available to any Minerva graduate attending a state college within Ohio and may be renewed by the recipient in subsequent years as long as they continue to meet the necessary criteria. This year we were able to award over $35,000 between 10 graduating Seniors and 17 continuing college students.

A heartfelt congratulations goes out to all of this year's recipients. And best of luck throughout all your studies and beyond.

At our stated meeting this past Tuesday, we opted to help usher in warm weather and sunshine by dressing festively for the occasion by wearing our Hawaiian shirts.

It's almost Easter and so today we once again delivered several Easter "baskets" to the widows of our lodge -- one of our favorite traditions. A very small act that really means the world to so many of them.

Pictured is our Worshipful Master, Kyle Lucas, getting ready to hop on down the road with the first two deliveries.

Last evening Augusta Masonic Lodge held their annual awards night, at which we were able to present five brethren with their Masonic Service Awards. These Brethren were the following:

WB Terry Selby (35 years)
Bro. Ron Sayre (45 years)
Bro. Earl Kerchum (50 years)
WB Tom Miller (50 years)
Bro. Sam DeVault (60 years)

Other Service Award Recipients not in attendance included:

Bro. Eugene Keister (60 years)
Bro. Frank McArtor Jr. (65 years)
Bro. John Shaffer (65 years)
Bro. Joel Deckman (70 years)

Combined, they equate to a total of 500 years of Masonic Service!

Within our lodge we also have our "Olan Shaffer Meritorious Service Award". This award is designed to honor brethren whose contributions to the lodge may sometimes be described as "above and beyond" and whose efforts have a lasting impact upon the lodge. Each year one active member is selected by the Master and a second is awarded posthumously to a deceased member. This year's recipients were

WB Dewight Friend (passed in 2025 w/73 years of service)
WB James Richardson (PM and current LEO, JW)

Congratulations to all of these honored Brethren and a sincere thank you to all you those who were able to join us for the special evening.
