Welcome to BAGS Bubba! Bubba is 7 months old and a special needs basset. He has a deformed front leg. His umbilical cord was wrapped around his leg in utero. His leg is shorter and smaller and he walks on his wrist.
Bubba will spend some time at the vet next Tuesday for an evaluation and radiographs. Our vet can determine how to best help Bubba. It was originally scheduled for today, but due to emergency surgery for two dogs, we got bumped. That’s okay, we have been the emergency before and understand. There is a kind man who has an orthotics and prosthetic clinic who makes braces and prosthetics for humans and animals. The clinic loves animals! He is happy to try and help Bubba! We are so excited about this news!
Bubba came from a breeder. He was loved and well taken care of and lived in the house. She wanted to find a forever home and help him have whatever he needed. It was an emotional goodbye, but we are keeping in touch.
Bubba has adjusted to BAGS. He has enjoyed making friends, being a lap dog, and of course he loves cookies!

JERSEY joined Peaches and Buster at the Rainbow Bridge on January 23rd.
Our Jersey Cow passed away from Liver Hemangiosarcoma. She never missed a meal, She showed discomfort after eating the day before because the mass pretty much filled her entire abdomen and had been bleeding. I had a feeling something was wrong but never expected to lose her at the vet appointment. The dreaded "H" word, enough said.
Jersey came to BAGS along with her sister Julie in May of 2024. The girls have always been very bonded, so thankfully they were never separated. BAGS was their 4th and forever home. They weren't the easiest duo. They knew to go potty outside but would rather just p*e in the house when nobody was looking. What Bassetude! Jersey loved loved loved belly rubs. She would flop down and paddle her front legs to let you know she wanted her belly rubbed. If she had her way, it would be a belly rub fest all day long! They loved grooming each other and cleaning each other's ears. It's sad to see a dog grieve. Julie is missing her sister. The first 2 days she kept her head on Jersey's collar. She is often in Jersey's favorite bed. She is starting to do better. When one of our family members passes away, it affects the entire pack. We have lost 3 in 28 days, and it has been too much for all our hearts. We have had to put one paw, one foot in front of the other to keep going.
Jersey will always pop into my head with her belly rub antics. That puts a smile on my face and makes my heart happy. Jersey Cow was 11 years young and had the softest white fur, she felt like a bunny!
Fly High sweet Jersey Cow. I absolutely know you are enjoying that never ending buffet. Send your sister some hugs!
