The Mineral Wells Community Building was constructed in 1947 for our close-knit community to use in a variety of facets and today, remains one of the very few last Community Buildings in not only Wood County, but also the surrounding area. We have the ability to host a variety of functions with a large gathering room, functional kitchen, restrooms, an ideal easily identified location with road frontage and more.
Currently, the building is being used for 4-H meetings for the Saulsbury 4-H Club, Yo-Yo Elite Baton Corps and multiple municipal outings to include yard sales, family reunions, birthday parties and more at a very affordable cost. The costs mainly cover monthly utilities and necessary insurance coverage.
In the past, the location has been used for Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, special church gatherings, emergency needs for the community (opened for food and electricity availability during a derecho) and a Wood County Senior Nutrition Site.
At this time, all caretakers are volunteers of the Saulsbury 4-H Club who maintain upkeep with minor maintenance of the building. Through the years, we have had many minor and a few major upgrades, one in which volunteers reroofed the building in the 1980s with a metal roof and added a new concrete porch (which had multiple cracks and was unsafe) in the 90s along with painting when necessary through the years.
We have served tens of thousands of people in the community , and the time has come that we find ourselves in need of some major repairs and improvements to continue to keep this building available. Our first project will be a new roof, where unfortunately, the previous roof has deteriorated to the point it now leaks and could pose a danger to our patrons. Our original quote was $21,000 in 2023 and we have no doubt that this price has since increased.
In the future, we need work on the outside and indoor plumbing; an inside electricity update, the restrooms need significant attention, the kitchen needs a major update along with basic painting, ceiling tile and lighting updates to also include the flooring in our large gathering room.
As a local entity that has deeply embedded roots in our community, your offer of services or a donation will not only help us achieve our necessary goals but also strengthen the bonds within our community. We are looking for monetary contributions and volunteer professionals to offer services to assist in replacing our roof and starting our other improvements.
We are a 501©3 non-profit organization, so a monetary donation or related services will be available as a tax deduction. All businesses and individuals contributing will be listed on the outside of our Community Building for all to see their generosity with a plan for viewing as shown:
Platinum $2500 or higher donation
Gold $1500 or higher donation
Silver $1000 or higher donation
Bronze $500 or higher donation
Family Donations In respect of our local families $100 donation
Service Volunteers Names of significant volunteers and their parent company.
We know that our loving community members do not offer donations for the recognition, however, we want to ensure that the thousands of people that will come through our doors recognize the outstanding businesses and individuals who contribute to keep this facility and able to serve the our close knit community.
Thank you for your consideration,
