Historic Mineral Wells

Historic Mineral Wells Historic Mineral Wells is an organization that helps restore, recreate and reprint the unique history of Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County.

Historic Mineral Wells began in 1984. Our purpose then and today, is to save and restore the primary pillars of history in our city. Once known as, "Palo Pinto Historical Foundation, Inc.," we changed our name in 1995 to promote distinction among the other historical groups across Palo Pinto County. Since that time, we have restored many commemorative buildings and funded beautification projects a

round the city. Along with preservation, there must be education. That's why we accompany our preservation efforts with educating the members of our community on our city's history and heritage. Education eventually breeds the desire to preserve the landmarks that put Mineral Wells on the map. We are a non-profit, tax exempt organization. Most of our funding derives from donations by individuals or estates. All proceeds from bequests and other fundraising projects are fully utilized towards our preservation and restoration endeavors. Our membership is voluntary for those that are passionate about restoring Mineral Wells. We're always looking for members who are ready to provide critical insight on what we can do to make a difference in the preservation of our town. Here are some of the projects we have been apart of:
- The Poston building in downtown Mineral Wells. The building was remodeled by the county and is now used for county offices.
- The Poston square underwent restoration and beautification.
- Old Palace Saloon (Black Horse) is now a popular restaurant among visitors and locals. The Black Horse is owned by Joseph Folly and Tim Gillen.
- Famous Water Well Company is one of the primary staples that Mineral Wells is known for. This establishment has flourished over the years and is owned by the Elder and Arneson families.
- The Stuart-Haverner Town Commons is now maintained by the city of Mineral Wells. And others including the National Guard Armor and Zappe Park. We currently have 2 books for sale:
