⚠️FIRST COME FIRST SERVED FOR REMAINING NWTF CONSERVATION SEED⚠️
With turkey season in the rearview mirror, folks that would label themselves as deer and turkey enthusiasts are starting to turn their focus back to deer. Many have already planted their spring food plots but for those that have not gotten around to it yet, it’s still not too late. Planting beans in June usually results in “green beans” on September 15 (that’s what we have always done on our ground) and milo is pretty drought resistant even if the rain does stop. The “climate guys” are predicting entering an El Nino this summer and that usually results in “normal” weather patterns in the Midwest (no heatwave no drought).
Every year the NWTF in MO offers their Conservation Seed Program to it’s members where outdated RR corn, RR soybeans, and milo are made available at reduced cost. The seed germinates at north of 80% with those that partake always pleased with the results and cost savings. The bulk of the seed made available for 2026 has already been distributed and the RR corn has been exhausted. However, there are still about 15 bags of milo ($15/bag) and about 30 bags of RR soybeans ($20/bag) remaining. The seed is located at the Elsberry Hardware Store at 212 Broadway Street in Elsberry.
