Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever Launch Volunteer 'Upland Caucus' to Advance Policy Priorities

Representatives from 26 Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever chapters gathered at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic to mark the launch of the Upland Caucus, an exciting new volunteer grassroots effort to advocate for the organization’s policy priorities in Washington, DC and state capitals across the country. Congressman Brad Finstad (R-MN), a member of the House Agriculture Committee and Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, delivered remarks on the importance of conservation programs to upland hunters and rural communities.

Attention agricultural producers, landowners, and conservationists!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today the 2026 enrollment periods for both the Continuous and General Conservation Reserve Program, marking 40 years since the program was first open for enrollment.

Offers will be accepted for Continuous CRP from February 12-March 20, 2026 and the General CRP signup will run from March 9-April 17, 2026. States with over 100,000 CRP acres expiring this year are Iowa, Washington, Illinois, and Kansas. Make sure you reach out to your local Pheasants Forever or Quail Forever biologist or visit the Habitat Help Desk at the 2026 National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic to learn more about CRP and the signup process.

If you're a landowner interested in improving wildlife habitat, looking for a program for low-yeild acres, or just interested in doing what you can to increase pheasant and quail numbers, stop by the State Habitat Meeting in Kearney this weekend!

You asked and we listened! The 2026 State Habitat Meeting will feature a Landowner Help Desk, designed to give landowners direct access to expert guidance. Stop by for a one-on-one opportunity to visit with a biologist, take a closer look at your property, and discuss your land management goals. You can ask questions, explore habitat improvement ideas, learn about conservation programs you may qualify for, and gain insight tailored specifically to your land. Early Bird Registration Is Open for the 34th Annual Nebraska State Habitat Meeting! The event will kick off with the Upland Rally Friday night beginning at 7:00 pm! Opening Day of Pheasant Season is tomorrow! After a day in the field, come join us at the Windmill in Minden, NE for a Nut Fry* to celebrate the hunt! We have a gun to give away, and a Prize for the longest tailfeather brought in from this season^, they have a cash bar, and we will have some Husker Volleyball on the TV! See you there!

*they will be lamb fries, prepared and breaded by the Windmill
