The Friends of the Mims/Scottsmoor Public Library are wonderful volunteers dedicated to promoting the welfare and growth of our library. The FRIENDS also strive to make the library's many services, as well as its needs, known to the community. We encourage financial gifts and donations of books, DVDs, etc. to our library. The FRIENDS conduct membership drives and organize book sales in order to raise funds to purchase needed items not allotted in the library's limited budget. We also fund speakers and children's activities. Please join FRIENDS today! (See Membership Form info below)
Our well-organized FRIENDS "Book and Bake Sales" are held three times a year in the library, and are open to the public. The impressive general book sales, featuring low-priced books in all categories---including biographies, bestsellers, military, romance, mystery, cookbooks, gardening, and even children's books---are held in March and September. The romance book sale is held in February. Books are displayed by categories (topic or author). Signs appear above the sale tables, so it is easy for buyers to find a specific topic or author. Tempting home-baked goods are also offered for sale. Volunteers are always needed before, during, and after book sales.
If you wish to donate a few hours three times a year to help set up books for the book sales, to donate baked goods for the sales, to help organize books by author's last name for the sales, or to write a check to support FRIENDS, we welcome your help!
