Dear friend of the Mimbres Valley Health Action League (MVHAL), Over this past year our organization has taken on some new projects and continued with the old. Give Grandly has some new dimensions this year and we volunteers are busy with our efforts to support our community. Our Board decided not to participate in GiveGrandly this year, but we still need your support to carry on our MIssion. Since our new Board was elected last April, we have had a busy and productive year. MVHAL still funds the Mimbres Messenger and has a monthly distribution of approximately 600. Our community education goal was initiated with a lecture on the uses and appropriate administration of Narcan. A local veterinarian gave needed vaccines to the Valley pets making local access easier for pet owners. Food insecurity continues to affect many of our residents. To supplement the monthly commodities distribution, MVHAL has added to the allotment with shopping cards to allow folks to supplement items that they especially need. Hams were provided to school famiies at Christmas. The Farmers’ Market began in July and continued to the beginning of October. Double-Up Bucks was made available to qualified SNAP recipients. More publicity is planned for our next Farmers’ Market season to have more users with a Triple-Up Bucks program. Efforts are being made to collaborate with Mimbres Mutual Aid to assist patients/individuals with supplies needed to care for personal needs at home. Collection of durable medical equipment is in the process of being made available to those having needs that are not covered by their insurance. When MVHAL reached out to learn what needs were not being addressed in our community, it came to our attention that a family with a new health crisis needed support. With funds for just those situations MVHAL was able to assist with heating help and donated workhours to make significant construction changes to accommodate the patient's needs. MVHAL was also able to help a single mom and her children at Christmas with gifts and warm clothing. The Harvest Festival is our yearly BIG community gathering and fundraiser. In 2025 there were approximately 1000 attendees. The funds gained from these efforts help support our ongoing programs. To continue with the Mission of the Mimbres Valley Health Action League we are asking for your continued support. Checks can be sent to MVHAL at PO Box 137, Mimbres, NM 88049. Or you can donate in person on April 12th at the MVHAL annual membership meeting. You can also drop your donations off at the Oluv restaurant. Thank you for your consideration, MVHAL Board of Directors
