This!
I learned something new today, that I hadn't put together before. When I hear the verse about the mustard seed, I think about having faith the size of a mustard seed, as in Matthew 17:20. Here is what I am meditating on:
An earlier chapter of Matthew 13: 31-32, tells of Jesus talking to the crowd in parables. It says:
He gave them another parable [to consider], saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and of all the seeds [planted in the region] it is the smallest, but when it has grown it is the largest of the garden herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air find shelter in its branches.”
So
Jesus is drawing a parallel between having FAITH and the actual Kingdom of Heaven. It seems they work the same way. If you have the smallest amount of faith, it moves mountains and grows to be a shelter, a living shelter.
And
Who is the author and finisher of our faith?
Jesus!
This is why reading the Bible is so cool! It starts talking back to you! It's relational. It's the living word!
