Our partner farm, Converging Creeks, is a six-acre, organic farm located in Colton, Oregon- approximately 40 minutes southeast of Portland.

On November 22nd, FoodWaves completed its 15th season at the Portland Farmers’ Market at Portland State University.

We became a non-profit in 2011 with Friends of Family Farmers as our mentor and fiscal sponsor organization.
Also, that year we started at PFM.

In 2012, we became a 501(c)3…

- Teaching others, in so many forms in so many ways- this time it’s Earth Day at PFM.
- And, finally, 9 years with twins (Nate’s) 🫶 Matt’s kiddos were 6 and 4 when FW started. They are now at University of Oregon, senior and a sophomore.

We love what we do! Thanks you for your continued interest and support over the years. Our beards are turning grey, but we still love what we do- teaching others how to grow fresh, nutritious, local, seasonal, and sustainable food! Woohoo!

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉
FoodWaves is honored to be a recipient of the 2024 NIFA Secondary Education, Two-Year Postsecondary Education, and Agriculture in the K-12 Classroom Challenge (SPECA) Grant! 🌱
Our project, “Growing Together: Enhancing Agricultural Education through Experiential Learning and Community Collaboration,” focuses on improving agricultural education, particularly for aspiring organic, small-acreage market farmers and educators. Through initiatives like the Small-Acreage Market Farm Internship Program (SAMFIP) and Cooperative Work Education (CWE) programs, we aim to tackle the challenges of recruitment, retention, and education in sustainable farming.
👩‍🌾 By fostering partnerships with Clackamas Community College and local high schools, we’re creating a multidisciplinary, problem-based learning environment to equip participants with comprehensive farming skills. Beyond this, we plan to share our results to inspire similar efforts across the nation and globally, advancing agricultural education everywhere!

Hey y’all! It’s Giving Tuesday. As a food justice non-profit, we use donations, gifts, and grants to teach others how to grow and eat their own fresh, sustainably grown produce!

From educational farm tours, on-site garden education, full season and part-time interns, Woofers, volunteers, and at the farmers market we are talking about the importance of access to healthy food for all!

Great end of our 13th season— last harvest, last bag of arugula sold at market, last farm lunch, last broccoli (only one of the day), last dance, and we built a new tunnel to be used as an on-farm educational center. Love what we do!
