Metcalfe Park Community Bridges Our mission is to cultivate resident-led community development rooted in social Justice. Practice leadership with, rather than over, each other.

In 2012, five Metcalfe Park resident leaders formed the Metcalfe Park Community Action Team (MPCAT) to join with neighborhood and citywide partners in considering how resident engagement could contribute to the improvement of Milwaukee’s Metcalfe Park neighborhood. The same year, Metcalfe Park was chosen as a site for the Building Neighborhood Capacity Program (BNCP), a federally-funded program that provided the financial resources and support for residents and partners to catalyze resident-driven neighborhood revitalization. Resident and partner involvement in the BNCP yielded a vision, mission and values for change, and led MPCAT to become Metcalfe Park Community Bridges. We welcome all residents to join in developing and implementing Metcalfe Park Community Bridges’ work. It is only in coming together to achieve our priorities – safety and placemaking, connectedness and cultural vibrancy, civic engagement, intergenerational wealth and opportunity, and health and wellness – that we can lift up our collective power to make progress toward our long-term vision of a robust and thriving community. Put the community first. Ensure Metcalfe Park residents are active participants in and beneficiaries of its development. Engage youth and residents as equal partners in decision-making and co-create opportunities with them in mind. Work together over the long term to redevelop and reinvigorate Metcalfe Park. The community powered fridge located at MPCB (3624 W. North Ave, 2nd floor 53208) is restocked and will be open today 9:30-4pm. Grab what you need and/or drop off what you can.

Items available: Milk, shredded cheese, butter, oranges, eggs, bacon, green beans. Please bring your own bags if you’re able.

‼️ Update for this location 📍:

The MPCB fridge will be open Tuesday-Friday 9:30-4pm moving forward. You can always call before coming to see if the fridge is stocked or what’s available 📞 414-616-1688. This is a community powered fridge so items available varies and the fridge is not guaranteed to be stocked daily.

Looking to support the fridge? We encourage folks to drop off non-expired nutritious food like: deli meat, eggs, juice, fruits, vegetables, and any other refrigerated items. You can also bring pantry/shelf items. Together let’s keep the fridge stocked, and make sure everybody has an opportunity to get food they need.

Beloved Metcalfe Park, EVERYTHING MUST GO!

This Thursday, October 15th, from 2–5 PM, will be the LAST DAY the Mutual Aid Shed will be open for the rest of the year!

We’re transitioning indoors and preparing to reopen the People’s Pantry programming in November. More details coming soon 💫

Come by and grab what you need. We have diapers, wipes, clothing, leaf bags, and some furniture items available. Everything is FREE and open to the public! No food distribution will take place this Thursday.

📍 Mutual Aid Shed: 2620 N. 34th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53210, between Clarke and Center Street.

🔊Please note: We will cancel if it rains or snows. We also wont be taking any clothing or furniture donations this day only hygiene products, cleaning supplies, baby diapers wipes and period supplies.

During the it’s all connected session last month we talked about how everything is connected. Now it’s time to make the connection to action!

Too often, decisions about our communities start with someone else deciding what the problem is and what the solution should be. This Saturday, we’re doing it differently.

We’re creating space for residents to identify the issues affecting their neighborhoods, discussing how those issues are connected, and, most importantly, setting the standard for what successfully addressing them should actually look like.

This isn’t a presentation. And it isn’t just a space to name problems.

It’s a community-based problem-solving lab designed to move us from community concerns, to community priorities, into action.

Beloved community, rain is NOT stopping us! We are still on for today’s long-awaited reopening of the Metcalfe Park Playfield!

🔉The event will be indoors. The site has a fully enclosed building, you will not be rained on.‼️

The fully restored field house is back and today is its first day in use! Resources, entertainment, and the celebration will take place inside the field house, with folks welcome to walk and explore the grounds.

The new-look Metcalfe Playfield features an upgraded walking loop, age-appropriate playground equipment, a splash pad and cooling plaza, basketball courts, shade structures, a body weight exercise equipment area, a football field, and a multi-purpose field.

Beloved Metcalfe Park, it’s time to PLAY!

Tomorrow, we’re celebrating the Grand Reopening of the Metcalfe Park Playfield! Come out Thursday, October 1st at 4:00 PM at 2350 N. 33rd St. for an evening of music, movement, community, and JOY!

We’ll have a DJ, drum circle, dancing, play, and a 5:30 PM ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially celebrate this beautiful community space.

This moment is possible because of the vision, voice, and persistence of Metcalfe Park residents and families, alongside the partnership and investment of Milwaukee Recreation, Dream Build Play, and so many community partners and supporters.

This is what happens when we build with community, for community.

Bring the whole family. Come dance. Come play. Come celebrate what we made possible together.
