Dr. Anthony Cruz brought up an important perspective during the 2026 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Midwest Summit, we must stop looking at education in a silo and instead focus on the entire ecosystem that impacts student success.

Education does not begin and end inside the classroom. Student success is connected to mentorship, family support, economic opportunity, community partnerships, mental health, access to resources, and exposure to higher education and career pathways.

One of the most powerful points made was this: when minority populations succeed, the entire community benefits. Stronger educational outcomes lead to stronger families, safer neighborhoods, economic growth, workforce development, and healthier communities overall. When we invest in underserved populations, we strengthen our cities, states, and our country as a whole.

This is why partnerships between K-12 education, higher education institutions, nonprofits, businesses, mentors, and community organizations are so critical. No one entity can solve these challenges alone. It takes collaboration, shared responsibility, and intentional investment in our youth.

At the 100 Black Men of Milwaukee, Inc., we believe mentorship and partnerships are key pieces of that ecosystem. Together, we can create pathways that help young people not only graduate but thrive long after high school and college.

The success of our youth is connected to the success of our communities.

Rep. Kalan Haywood made a powerful point during the 2026 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Midwest Summit, Law and Order is important, but so is education, mentorship, and accountability.

Too often, we focus only on the consequences after decisions are made instead of ensuring our youth are properly educated and guided beforehand. We must continue teaching our young people that life is built on choices, decisions, and consequences. Every decision has an outcome, and mentorship plays a critical role in helping youth understand how those choices can impact their future.

Accountability is necessary in every community, but accountability without guidance leaves gaps. Our youth need positive role models, structure, leadership, and honest conversations about responsibility, discipline, and decision-making.

This is why organizations like the 100 Black Men of Milwaukee, Inc. continue to invest in mentorship and community engagement. We cannot simply tell young people what not to do; we must also show them pathways toward success, leadership, education, and opportunity.

If we truly want safer communities and a stronger future, we must combine accountability with mentorship, education, and support.

Our youth are watching us every day.

Dr. Lita Mallett said it perfectly during the 2026 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Midwest Summit, our youth need strong community partnerships to truly succeed.

No single school, organization, mentor, or family can do it alone. It takes all of us working together to ensure our young people have access to the mentorship, resources, guidance, and opportunities they need from K-12, through college, and beyond.

When schools partner with community organizations, businesses, mentors, nonprofits, and families, we create a stronger support system for our youth. We help expose them to careers, leadership opportunities, financial literacy, higher education pathways, and positive role models that can truly change the trajectory of their lives.

Partnerships matter because our youth deserve more than just support inside the classroom — they deserve a community invested in their future.

At the 100 Black Men of Milwaukee, Inc., this is exactly why we continue building relationships throughout the community. Together, we can help bridge gaps, open doors, and prepare the next generation for long-term success.

The future of our communities depends on how well we invest in our youth today.

One statement that truly stood out during the 2026 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Midwest Summit came from Mr. Colleston Morgan, Jr.:

“Our youth need and deserve the best education possible.”

That message is simple, but powerful. Education discussions too often become centered around adult agendas, politics, disagreements, and competing interests. But at the end of the day, the focus should always come back to one question: How are the kids doing?

Are they learning?
Are they supported?
Are they prepared for the future?
Are we truly investing in their success?

Every child deserves access to quality education, mentorship, resources, and opportunities that allow them to reach their full potential. As community leaders, educators, parents, mentors, and advocates, we have a responsibility to make sure our decisions are centered around the needs of our youth, not our own personal interests.

When we invest in education, we invest in stronger families, safer communities, and a better future for everyone.

Our young people are watching us closely. Let’s continue working together to ensure they receive the guidance, support, and opportunities they deserve.

One of the most powerful moments from the 2026 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Midwest Summit in Milwaukee was hearing Milwaukee County Chief Judge Carl Ashley speak on the importance of grassroots efforts in changing the lives of our young people.

Too often, we wait for someone else to solve the challenges impacting our communities. But real change starts at the ground level — through mentorship, accountability, guidance, and people willing to invest their time into the next generation.

Judge Ashley’s message reinforced something we strongly believe at the 100 Black Men of Milwaukee, Inc.: we must come together now more than ever before. Community organizations, educators, law enforcement, business leaders, elected officials, mentors, and families all play a role in creating opportunities and pathways for our youth.

The future of our communities depends on the leadership we provide today. If we want a prosperous future for the next generation, we must be intentional about showing them what leadership, unity, discipline, and service truly look like.

Milwaukee has the people, talent, and passion to make a lasting impact. Now is the time to continue breaking down silos and working together for our youth and our community.

Looking back on the 2026 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Midwest Summit hosted here in Milwaukee, we are still filled with gratitude, pride, and inspiration.

To see leaders, mentors, educators, law enforcement professionals, business leaders, community advocates, and young people come together from across the Midwest with one shared purpose of empowering the next generation was truly powerful.

One of the highlights of the Summit was seeing our National Board Chairman, Bro. Milton H. Jones Jr., alongside Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson discussing the importance of mentorship, community collaboration, and investing in our youth. Conversations like these remind us that real change happens when organizations, communities, and leadership work together with intention.

This Summit was more than just an event. It was a reminder that mentorship, representation, and community matter. The relationships built, ideas shared, and lessons learned will continue to impact our cities and our young people for years to come.

We want to personally thank everyone who attended, partnered, sponsored, volunteered, and supported this incredible experience. Milwaukee showed up in a major way.
