📚 MORE THAN $8,000 WORTH OF BOOKS. 562 BOOKS GIVEN AWAY. 20+ ETHNICITIES REPRESENTED. ONE INCREDIBLE DAY.

Our first-ever Authors of Color Book Fair showed us something important: our communities want to read.

This summer, the Carvd N Stone Foundation brought families, adults, children, and community members together at McGovern Park in Milwaukee for a day centered on literacy, representation, access, and joy.

📖 More than $8,000 worth of books📚 562 FREE books distributed✊🏾 91% written by Black authors🌍 Authors representing 20+ ethnicities🐎 Free activities, including horse rides

One of the biggest takeaways was seeing just how many people wanted more books. The demand is there. We just need to continue creating access.

Thank you to everyone across the country who donated books, our funders and community partners, our volunteers, and every person who showed up and made our first fair special. And this is only the beginning.

We plan to bring the Authors of Color Book Fair back in 2028, this time in a new city. Our goal is to grow the fair, give away even more books, and continue bringing diverse literature directly to communities.
Milwaukee was the first. Which city should be next? 👀

📚 Over $8,000 worth of books.

That’s what we gave away for FREE during the inaugural Carvd N Stone Foundation Authors of Color Book Fair.

Because of the incredible support of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community, hundreds of readers left with books they could keep, helping expand access to diverse stories and authors.

More than 91% of the books were written by Black authors, and our collection represented more than 20 racial and ethnic backgrounds, ensuring readers of all ages could discover stories that reflected their experiences and introduced them to new perspectives.

The inaugural Authors of Color Book Fair wasn’t just about giving away books; it was about building community, celebrating representation, and making literature more accessible.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible. ❤️📚.
