👏 A big thank-you to our guides, Patrick & Jackie of the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance, Inc., for an outstanding tour of the Old Soldiers Home complex. Of our 38 participants, 35 were visiting the grounds for the very first time. We all learned a great deal and walked away with a much greater understanding and appreciation of what the Soldiers Home means to Milwaukee.

In what turned out to be a beautiful evening along the shore of Lake Michigan, THANK YOU to those who attended last eve's Summer Shindig at South Shore Terrace. It was great fun doing some old-school trivia (Lake Michigan, beer gardens, Milwaukee County Parks, & Bay View) - plus, all the wonderful socialization and conversations that occurred!

Thank you to those that came out to last night's Backyard Historians #8 at Dead Bird Brewing! And a special thanks to our two featured presenters: Tim R., head librarian of the Rare Books Room at MPL, and Nick K., owner/operator of Dead Bird.

If you wish to view the rare collections at Central Library, please email Tim (see email on attachment). It's truly a unique experience that would be well worth your time!

And look to support the wonderful small, local business of Dead Bird Brewing in the Halyard Park neighborhood. Located in an 1904 building with exposed wood beams & cream city brick, it's Wisconsin's only all-vegan brewery. Great craft beers, craft cocktails, & NA options along with homemade apps & pizzas.

My personal highlight of the night - 51 people rising for the 7th inning stretch and singing “Take me out to the ballgame” with Bob Uecker on the screen. Pretty, pretty cool!

👏 THANK YOU to the 51 attendees to last night’s history night at Lombardi Brewing. And a special shout out to Patrick S. and Wayne L. for their passions regarding their respective Milwaukee baseball topics. Really great stuff!

⚾️ It was great to see so many people sporting their baseball gear from the various eras. Some pretty awesome hats, jerseys, and t-shirts!
